Once upon a time a new headmaster dragged a young man in his charge back from the depths of darkness. Now, years later, another boy has turned up to school in poor shape and the Headmaster thinks it’s time for Severus Snape to pay forward what was once done for him, even if said Potions Master goes kicking and screaming all the way. Occlumancy is the only solution to drawing you out of your suffering. I will not argue with you about it again.”
“You could die,” Harry protested quietly, looking up at the man and feeling the edges of the wooden chair press into his thin shoulders and back, “I’m not a child anymore, Snape, I know that this could kill you.”
“Then it kills me,” Snape responded flatly.
