When Harry finds an injured Snape on his doorstep and must hide him from the Dursleys, he has no idea that this very, very bad day will be the start of something good.
Harry and Snape are thrown together by annoying relatives, a series of strange dreams, and Voldemort's latest hunt for Harry, but their greatest challenge may well be surviving each other. This will be a long summer unless the two can find a way to work together. A slow-burn enemy-to-mentor story.
Alternate 6th summer (and part of the school year): post-OotP; ignores HBP and DH.

- I actually just growled when I got to the "To be Continued" at the bottom there. I knew it was coming, but I've just binged the entire story tonight in one sitting and having been jarred out of it so suddenly... I'm shocked at the growl.
Anyways...When it comes to reviews I'm about as articulate as our dear Harry trying to apologize to Severus.
So... I guess I'll say this - I'm in absolute love with this story, the pace and tone of the story are both perfect. I love your characterization of Severus, and I absolutely love how you're painting Harry. He's an awkward teenager put in to an awful circumstance that no one should deal with, but he's still human. He's not perfect, and he's going to make glaring mistakes and be a total prat sometimes. But you make him learn from it. And things aren't instantly better either. No. He has to work for it. As well he should.
I do hope he is able to "Trust" Severus in the way that he needs to though. I really want that, badly. I know I'll have to, but I can't wait to see what you do with this and where you take it.

I'm so so glad that you are enjoying the story! Hearing what you liked was music to my ears. I really want Snape and Harry to trust each other too. Writing is funny sometimes - you think you're in charge of where the characters go, but then you sit down to write a scene and they drag their feet say, "no, writer! Not that way! This way instead!" And I'm a pushover, so I follow down the path they lead me to, and sometimes it winds up in the delete pile, but often it turns out that they knew better than I did what they needed to do all along. ;)

- I don't know how to respond. I almost screeched, but then I realized I'm at work and have to be quiet.
I...I wasn't ready for this level of angst and drama so early in the morning.

- My heart was in my throat for the last part of that chapter (I almost wrote episode by accident...)
You have a way with words that just draws a person in. I couldn't help but cringe at each painful moment for him. GOD you're good.
I really do need to go back and re-read this, it's been a while since I have... maybe that'll keep busy until your next update.

I love thinking of it as an episode! :) I wanted to do regular updates (or at least let people know exactly when to expect an update) for the reason that it's more fun to follow a story that way. Plus it motivates me when I have a firm deadline and people holding me to it!

- Well.. *cough* I wasn't expecting to end my journey through this story bawling my eyes out but here we are.
I feel like my heart has been ripped out of my chest, and my throat is on fire because I've been crying. I should be working damnit! I haven't worked all day, I've read this story! And now I can't stop crying.
It's the sign of an amazing writer that can draw these emotions out of a reader. So while right now I'm quite displeased and I will be crying for a while... thank you for another amazing story.
Severitus-beginning between years four and five. Harry is overcome with guilt over the death of Cedric Diggory and has isolated himsef from those who care. A strange gift arrives on his fifteenth birthday that changes everything.

- There, I have now finished my binge (Did it really only take me 2 days?) and now I'm happy to come and review.
I'll probably try to go back and review as many chapters as possible, only because I honestly found this story first on Fanfiction dot net before I even knew Potions & Snitches was a thing! So I read it there first, then it stopped being updated and I got sad..
But I kept coming back to read and re-read because well... it was an amazing story and I loved where it was going, and I guess I could day dream a bit about the plot myself?
I'm so excited that you're back and updating again and I CANNOT WAIT for the next chapters!
Sirius does something to Harry that he shouldnt and he shatters the poor boy's last hope of finally having a family. He's lost and hurt and terrfied with no one to turn to. No one but the man who has made his life miserable anyway he could. How can Snape help Harry,when he hates him himself; or does he?

- I am so ridiculously happy that this updated. I almost couldn't believe my eyes when I saw a new chapter! I'm certainly going to need to go back and re-read the story from the start til now.
I'm both saddened and relieved that Sirius is taking off on his own journey, and I do hope we get to see a little bit of it at least. I just hope when the time comes to be reunited, he doesn't try to take Harry back completely, but instead welcome the relationship Severus and Harry have, and try to integrate himself back in to it.

- I need to stop reading at work, it was REALLY hard to contain a small squeal of excitement when I saw you'd updated...
What a fantastic chapter, GREAT reactions from all around - I just wish Sirius weren't such a total child sometimes.
