After all, when a person knew they were going to die, it changed an awful lot about how they treated life.
That line is really quite tragic, it made me sad.
But then of course, I was uplifted when Harry agreed to have Severus as his guardian. Hurrah!
I hope that Severus's motives are more than duty and that in time Harry learns this. Both the boys need some motivations other than 'duty'.
Believe it or not, I'm not a big fan of skittles, oreos or chocolate frosted sugar bombs. Perhaps I can be mint choc chip ice cream. I would allow you to put an oreo on top though.

Awww! I'm so glad Harry finally realizes (a bit, at least) that he deserves to have someone look out for him and care for him. As I said before, I think Snape truly is the only one that can handle Harry, understand him and give him what he needs.

*gives mint chocolate taffy* (It's what I have on hand, okay?) These Cliffies are nasty buggers. This particular one kept me from bed for about ten minutes (I read fast, DH took me about six hours), and now however long it takes me to review. Harry's perspective on everything is most interesting. I'm curious how far you plan to take this story. Obviously, having Draco around is going to have a huge affect on Harry during the school year, due to how much he looks like his father. In Whelp, you seem to think he has potential, but at seven, children who are hopeless are few and far between (I've encountered one, my boyfriend (of 3.5 years) has had hundreds of foster siblings). Anyway, keep up the great work. I can't wait to see what Dumbledore thinks of this development.

Great as usual. Snape's anger with Dumbledore hit on a lot of my own ideas about the whole Harry-as-weapon thing.
Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs. I want one of those bad. I don't know what it is, but I want one. It sounds like a really really good chocolate chewy mint you find at weddings. Lol.
Harry finally agreed! Even after everything Snape has done. Good for him! I do have to admit, Snape made it sound more like he was going to be becoming Harry's guardian in order to turor him more-so than not, but I know it wasn't meant that way. Snape has a funny way of communicating his feelings and thoughts at times. Lol. He's a good guy. Really deep down ;)

That was rather lovely. :-) I have to point out, though, that Harry *has* seen Snape laugh before---he noticed all of Snape's crooked teeth. Unless I'm confusing this with another fic, but I really don't think I am because Harry was definitely writing in a journal at the time.
I found myself reading through their conversation and wondering if Harry was going to point out that being the living solution to Snape's guilt-complex over Lily is just another way of objectifying him---but I assume they'll cover that at some point. YOU CAN'T HIDE YOUR FEELINGS FOREVER, SEVERUS. *shakes fist*
Even at this point Snape can't admit that Harry is any more than some sort of responsibility or duty, albeit a rather personal responsibility and duty. He can't yet admit that he has any personal concern for Harry. But even so he goes further than Harry has felt for others. If Dumbledore is right and it's our choices that define us, Snape's choices to protect Harry have exhibited a lot more concern than the choices of others.

YES!! Harry and Snape are going to be a family!! And Snape called Dumbledore a bastard!! I only hope Harry will be able to recover enough to go back to classes!!
I love this story - I squinted my way through the captivity/torture (I'm a bit sqeamish that way) because I could see what a brilliant writer you are, and I had confidence that you weren't putting Harry through all that for nothing, and I was right!!
