Excellent chapter! I never thought about removing memories and whether or not that would be a painful experience. I love how Severus was right there with Harry the whole time, though, reassuring him. Also, the fact that Harry's actually letting Snape touch him seems to be good for his recovery.

It's not often that I'm struck speechless by fics, but OMG I think yours may be one of them. I've read quite a few fics like this before, but none of the authors have handled such a serious and delicate subject matter like this with as much finesse as you've done. Seriously, two thumbs up. Very well done. I cannot wait to read the next chapter - please update soon!

Two minor corection: you've spelled "time" as "tine" near the beginning of the story, and "can't" as "can" near the end.
Aside from those very minor considerations, however, I am enjoying your story immensely. This chapter in particular was very moving---Harry begging Snape to hit him was very painful, but it felt quite right, for someone in his position. I look very much forward to future installments.

That last was sweet, and kinda funny. You handled a serious situation with appropriate care and neither too much subtety nor overdoing sympathy. It also got Harry working With Snape, on something that they could find some very much needed humour in!!

Poor Harry. I see how he is using the Occlumancy to bury the memories, but I have to wonder if it is really doing him good, or more harm? He needs to integrate the memories, or else it's just like a dirty wound, bandaged up and left to fester - the infection can be worse than the original wound, though that is hard enough to imagine, given how he got those particular memories. Is this just meant to give him some distance, from which he can later deal, or is it turning into an unhealthy avoidance?
I think I held my breath through the first half of this chapter. That was intense. And when reading the second half, it felt like someone was squeezing my heart. BUT, the last part of this story made me smile...especially.."Oh, I dunno...I kinda like it." That actually made me laugh outloud. Who knew that one chapter could make a person feel so many emotions? lol. That's a credit to you. I love Harry and Snape so much in this story. I guess they're just...real. If that makes sense...

Author's Response: Thanks! Adverbs are fun! The chapter was hard to write, I admit; I often feel the emotional roller coaster I send my characters on. It's what made me a lousy therapist: too much damned empathy. And thanks for the nomination for Featured Story, too! New chapter tomorrow. Probably.

That was a pretty good fit he had! I liked it; it was pretty intense. I like that Severus is making up that list too, lol. That cracks me up. I'd never get through an hour without saying Dunno, or Kinda, or any "faux compound words that end with a." I'm glad they got over the first hurdle of Harry's 'freak/punching bag/house-elf' days. Good to see him being forced to work through some issues. I wonder if he'll be getting another journal. He seemed to be doing a lot better with that.
