Reviews For Finding a Family and a Home
Author's Response: Thank you! Yes, I agree that it's nice to have it all in one place. I really appreciate this site for giving me the opportunity to post it here in this form. And thank you for taking the time to review! :)
Overall a wonderfully written story for an obviously talented author, thank you for a great story! -Shonda Author's Response: Wow! Thank you for your review - I'm really overwhelmed. I'm delighted to hear that you felt the characterization was well done. It's the thing I worry about the most, having seen (as you describe) other stories that seem to veer too much one way or the other, especially wth Snape. It's therefore just marvelous to receive feedback that - yay! - it worked in this story. I'm glad you enjoyed the storyline - compared to many of the stories that are much more action packed with Voldemort and duels and such, this is very mundane and relationship based, so I was a little worried that people would find it boring. (Yeah, yeah, okay so they're getting along. Big deal - where's the action??) It's lovely to get reviews like yours and realize that other people (not just me!) like the human side of the story, not just the (magical equivalent) of explosions and car chases. ;) Thank you so much!!
Author's Response: Thanks! I liked the game too - it just felt like a great way that they could both express their feelings without actually saying how they felt. ;) (typical males!!!!)
Author's Response: Ha ha! I'm glad you liked it! It was fun to write...
Author's Response: Thank you!!! I appreciate your taking the time to review.
Author's Response: Wow - thank you very much for such a flattering review. I am very glad you find the story so well done. I'm delighted to hear you felt the dialogue and characterizations were good - those are the things I always worry about most, since (as you point out) it's so easy to slip up! Thank you again!
Author's Response: Thank you! I appreciate your taking the time to review - I love writing the Harry/Snape dynamic, so I appreciate hearing feedback like yours. :)
Keep it up! Author's Response: Thank you!
Author's Response: LOL! Thanks very much for the feedback. It's great to hear that the dialogue sounds right. :)
The only irritation I have is regarding Snape's references to Ron acting like a Slytherin. I hate it when writers make casual remarks to the slightest deviance Hermione, Ron, or even Harry (when I usually love concepts that deal with Harry accepting his personality traits that are represented from the serpent house) have and are likened to the Slytherin house by prominent members. Ron's plan surprisingly had an undertone of Slytherin, so the remark only slightly grated (having read too many badly written fics). I was impressed by how well he pulled that off while staying in character. Author's Response: I'll be interested in what you think of the conversation Snape and Ron have in a later chapter about the need to embrace ALL aspects of your personality - Gryffindor traits, Slytherin traits, and so on. Thanks for reviewing and I hope you continue to enjoy the story. :) |
