Well, I finally gave in and started this one too. I'm glad I did. So far this story is very different than any other one I've read. You're doing a great job portraying the characters and the atmosphere they create. I wanted to puke when Harry was with Umbridge and when Snape was talking to Harry in the doorway of the Potions classroom, I felt this sense of... foreboding. Great work! Hehe, I think I’ve been having a little too much fun torturing readers through suspense ^^ - Sev will be a tiny bit later than that but he will help and Umbridge will totally get hers, even if Harry has to try one more of her ‘help’ sessions first. What an awful time for Severus to be called away! I do hope Harry makes it to the infirmary, though I rather doubt he will. I'm not sure about the potion, but it seems to be affecting Harry's mind/emotions in a way, sapping him and making him not think clearly, though that might also just be the result of his injuries and mental state taking its toll. I just really can't wait for Severus or someone to realize how hurt he is and to save him from this awful torment. And of course for Severus to start softening up towards Harry and building a relationship with him. I liked Moaning Myrtle, though I wouldn't want to spend too much time in her company...she's such a gloomy gus. And Hermione was perfectly in-character, too. Looking forward to more! Author's Response: Hehe, I was trying not to keep people waiting too long... guess that didn’t work very well (my muse went on holiday and never came back TT), not to mention, preparing for uni is more time consuming than I’d thought but I think I should be able to find the time to get back to regular updates... finally – I’ve taken so long that Sev’s been in that floo for ages... can’t be good for his health ^^ - and I’m looking forward to chapter 14 too, I think a good dose of fluff is what everyone needs by now ^^, the first half of next chapter will be a bit like Umbridge’s other detentions but the second half might be worth reading if you’re interested ^^ Nice guess, the potion is affecting him in more way than one... potion’s make wonderful plot devices don’t they? ^^ Yes, very good guess... I knew I wasn’t being very subtle with it ^^ although you’re write about that too, there are a few things working against him including his back... it’ll be interesting to tie it all together ^^ - I’m looking forward to writing a better relationship between Sev and Harry too, I think I’m gonna need the fluff as much as anyone reading ^^. I’m glad Moaning Myrtle could offer a little bit of dry humour and distraction in a rather dreary chapter and thanks so much, I’m glad Hermione wasn’t overdone or anything... apparently she was very Hermione-like even though I has someone say she was annoying enough to warrant a slap ^-^. I wonder if that’s a good thing or not ^^ Thank you, and I’ll look forward to more from you too ^^
I want to scream at him to go to the damn infimary, but I am also oddly intrigued to see what Umbitch is going to do next to him! I thought for sure that Ron or Snape would have figured it out by now, so maybe the potion hides his wounds from others? Maybe she wants him to think he's going crazy. And that jerk Voldemort just HAD to call him then, didn't he? What a prick...didn't he know there was important things developing at Hogwarts?! :P I'm leaving to go out of town for Christmas holidays on Sunday....it would make my holidays complete if I had another chapter before I go! Pleeeease? For some reason Hermione really bugged me this chapter--Ron was being such a GREAT friend and she was just annoying and suffocating. You did a great job writing her, I just want to slap her though. I loved your addition of Myrtle, especially when she asked if he was dying. It sort of brought a bit of relaxation into the tense chapter, I enjoy an inkling of humor with my angst. I'm very glad that people are starting to notice...is it wrong that I hope Umbridge does something to push him over the edge, though? I don't think it would be too hard to do at this point, the poor kid. I love an angsty, tormented Harry! ~LJ, Slytherin Author's Response: Ooh, very very nice guesses, ten points and a more than a little awe are all yours ^^ Very well done, next chapter (or, when it comes to the potion, perhaps the one after) you’ll know ^^ I think he’s become a little too talented at hiding wounds and for some reason my characters are rather less perceptive than I’d had in mind ^^ but they aren’t completely hopeless so the next chapter should be better; and I’m so pleased that you want to see what will happen next with Umbridge! It may sound a little twisted but the idea for this fic was originally borne from curiosity at the depths of her inventiveness and cruelty; it’s been fun exploring her character ^^... because that doesn’t sound twisted at all ^^. It will be the last bit of ‘torture’ from her and it wont be as detailed or anything... well, I don’t think it is, others may have different opinions ^^ - hopefully it wont be very painful to read though ^^ - looking forward to finding out what you think of it ^^ Hehe, hmm, Voldy does have a HORRIBLE sense of timing. He’s like a two year old, temper tantrums when he isn’t the centre of attention. What will we do with him *shakes head* ^^ OH, I tried so very hard to write the next chapter before you were going to leave and I did get about half of it done because of it but real life doesn’t like me all that much right now and decided I should have some upset/pissed off readers on my back instead of an updated fic TT – blame RL... totally not my fault ^-^ - hope you had a fun trip though! Hehe, I love that your idea of me doing a great job of Hermione was to make her suffocating and annoying ^-^ I think it is a part of her character and I just played it up a bit (heh, possibly too much... whoops ^^) but if she annoyed you last chapter then I got what I was aiming for ^^ And I’m glad I was able to add that little bit of humour with Myrtle (and her complete lack of consideration or tact), no matter how morbid it may have been ^^ Oh I’m so so happy that you at least are looking forward to Harry’s last little nudge over the edge – I‘ve had so many people tell me they want him to find help NOW but without some huge mental break what would be the point, you know? I hope you in particular like the next chapter and thank you a lot for the faith that despite pushing Harry over the edge I’ll bring him back again (with lots of Snapey mushness ^^) Angsty tormented Harry ahead! ^^ Happy New Year!
Author's Response: Thank you... and sorry ^^ I’ve been getting a lot of that ^^ Oh, I’m very sorry you feel that way! So close! I know there will be a tiny bit more but by the end of the next chapter the worst parts will be all over... maybe skipping the next chapter is wise if you don’t feel you’re able to handle any more of the bad parts but I encourage you to give chapter 14 a chance if at all possible. I have a horrible memory and but for that I would promise to let you know when only fluff was left but as it is I cant... even if you don’t read anymore of this though, thank you so very very VERY much for reading and reviewing this far, my first hp fic, wouldn’t have been the same without your concrit and the kind words your always giving me ^-^ I hope the New Year brings only the best things ^-^ - including lots of taintless, painless fluff ^^
