Reviews For When the Boat Comes In
Author's Response: Thanks for the review ^^ Yes; as Slytherins are more cautious, they tend to plan rather than react, which tends to speed up the whole process, moreover, the five-strong team has two brilliant seekers, three chess buffs and three people skilled at logic problems, which meant that the tasks were considerably easier. Of course, on the other hand, as Slytherins don't have the 'everything will turn out okay' mentality of many Gryffindors, meaning that some parts of the chapter are rather slower paced. Swings and roundabouts lol!
Author's Response: Thanks ^^
Author's Response: Thanks for the review. Yes, Harry's fatal mistakes were a. not sending an owl to his father/Dumbledore and b. not contacting Lucius immediately. I think that, whatever happens, the children are going to suffer the consequences of dashing off into danger rather more acutely than they do in the canon. Just how long is Harry's punishment essay going to be?
Author's Response: Thanks ^^ I think Blaise and Severus have a lot in common; they are both capable of masking thier feelings, have loving hearts and a way with words. Severus is genuinely busy at the moment; he was not called away on a false premise and he has a lot to accomplish before the dawn. (No one seems to have speculated who has died, which is interesting)
I'm definitely enjoying this fic. Each chapter gets better and better! Thanks for updating! Author's Response: Thanks for the review: I'm glad you're enjoying the fic ^^ . Yes, Harry, in particular, rather lacks cool calculation although he does consider his options more carefully than he does in the canon, so Severus and Slytherin have had some effect! (With Hermione, the effect is more pronounced; she was always the most cautious and calculating of the trio but, in Gryffindor, these traits were undervalued, whereas, in Slytherin, the ability to plan is considered an asset and, therefore, nurtured.) Eleven year olds often feel invincible, so they don't usually judge the degree of danger accurately.
Author's Response: Thanks ^^ I thought it'd be more in character for Slytherins, whose House values planning and cool calculation, to at least consider their options before charging ahead.
Author's Response: Thanks for the review. Yes, I know, I do love cliffhangers but at least you won't have to wait forever for the next chapter ^^
I love how you are bringing cannon events into the story while still making the plot your own. Really great job on characterization and plotting. I'm in awe. T Author's Response: Thanks for the review. I'm really glad thay you're enjoying it ^^
Author's Response: Thanks ^^ Well, Lucius was an obvious choice, even more than the children could have possibly realised considering Lucius' position: not only would he know who had definately turned their backs on Voldemort, he would be able to summon half-a-dozen warlocks to accompany him. I'm glad you liked the kids reactions; away from the Gryff influence, Hermione has become rather more cautious and calculating and even Harry trys to think through his options. Draco's fury, Blaise's cutting sarcasm and Theo's tired resignation I thought were all in character ^^.
I'm glad that the examinations went well and are finally over. Now it's time for the children to have a little fun. I wonder how long it will take for the other children to begin to wonder where Harry is and start to inquire as to his whereabouts? Great chapter! Author's Response: Thanks for the review. I don't think that the room actually malfunctioned; my idea of Hogwarts is that the castle has a degree of sentience- how else would the shifting staircases have not resulted in any deaths! In DH, the Room of Requirement is able to place its exit anywhere in the castle and, as it never places the children directly in harms way, one wonders whether it 'senses' people with evil intent. If so, the RoR might have decided that Harry needed to know about Voldemort's plans and taken the opportunity to eject him in a place where a. he could hide and b. he could overhear their plans. Quirrell is able to speak parseltongue because, as you suggested, he and Voldemort are sharing a head. |
