The problem with this is that the police would arrest Dursleys for child endangerment, which is the problem for all stories where the Dursleys torture and beat Harry.
Author's Response: Except that in this story the Dursley's never actually called the police, because they knew that would happen. They just threatened Harry with it and he believed them and left. As for the other stories, nobody ever actually called the police. The police don't always know everything that is going on in people's homes unless somebody tells them. A lot of times child endangerment, neglect, and abuse goes unnoticed sadly. I know of many cases of friends growing up that had this issue, and they didn't tell anybody for fear of the consequences, and nobody ever called the police for them.

About the singing, there's a country singer (i can't remember his name but he's been in some Burt Reynolds films) that Sings just fine, but Stutters badly when he talks.
I remember watching on Scientific American Frontiers years ago, they did a piece about stuttering. One of the big mysteries about stuttering is when the stutterer is saying something at the same time another person is saying it, they don't stutter. That phenomena resulted in someone developing something to put in your ear that would pick up what you are saying and play it back in a different voice almost at the same time you are talking. Its like 90% effective in curing stuttering. You may try something like that in your story.
I like this fic! I've never seen a fic in which Harry had a stutter before and, so far, it is very well done. I just would like to see Harry get one over on Malfoy, which I'm sure you were planning anyway!
