This was pretty great. I appreciate the way you gave it room to fill up with so much detail, instead of shortening it to the bare bones of the plot. This felt lived-in, real. I was most charmed by Snape's mental sigh of acceptance that Harry wouldn't be a Slytherin; it's exactly the sort of small thing that makes a huge difference in a 'what if' fic, a world that's not what we know from the books but still tangibly part of that universe.
