    A sweet story and the ending with Fawkes was well done. A single note.

    I like the twist that the taking of the Prince name and magic could undo Volde's. Looking forward to more.

    Very good start ... I like the third year - there was still hope to change alot of things - much could have been saved - lives, futures, and I think other choices could have been made by many

    However, JKR needed stuff for the next four books, so conflicts had to continue.

    We fanfiction people can fix all that, of course....

    I don't focus much on canon events in this story. Other than the mention of Black (in keeping with the challenge poster's desire that this be set in books one, two or three), this focuses solely on made-up events. Not trying to fix anything, but definitely having fun with character exploration, and extrapolation of the known canon 'facts'. As such, hopefully the rest of this story won't disappoint as it is not canon or even action driven, but character driven.

    Author's Response: I'm glad that this is a new twist for you; I do worry about being fresh (as fresh as one can be) when writing. I'm glad that you enjoyed it enough to want to read more. Hopefully the rest won't disappoint.

    :) I like it good start. I am not sure if you posted it or not but i am guessing that this is 3rd year? Since you wrote black was on the run and Voldemort is not back yet.

    Author's Response: I am not really focusing on canon events in this story, but I have put a label as pre-PoA, because there wasn't one which read as PoA (third year). Black and Voldemort play no role in this story whatsoever. I'm glad that you think it's off to a good start.

    Author's Response: I'm glad that you liked the start, and Ron's somewhat Slyterin tendencies. I think it would've been interesting had he been the first Weasley to enter the house of Slytherin. Thank you for reading.

    The idea of familial magic negating the Dark Mark is interesting. And from the way Harry collapsed crying into Snape, it sounds like anything would be better than the abuse from the Dursleys. I really liked Ron's part in letting Snape know about Harry's situation. I always thought that anyone who could play chess as well as Ron would have to be clever and, yes, somewhat Slytherin.

    I agree about Ron - he would have made for an interesting Slytherin. Another story altogther, I suppose. The magical negation aspect of familial magic is something that I've wanted to explore, though I do not go into the whole concept of it in any great detail in this story. Hopefully you will enjoy the rest. Thank you!
