Simply showing his fascination in a somewhat more dignified way would have been closer to canon ... but admittedly also less amusing.
I can imagine Canon!Snape doing this behind a strong privacy ward :D

OH MY GOD THIS WAS BRILLIANT I LOVE IT
I admit, I was singing it to myself. Good thing that Snape didn't see Harry in the shop.
Oh dear, I must have looked like a madwoman sniggering behind my computer screen at work. That was a great response to the challenge, and the way you told it I could actually see Snape getting carried away in the moment! Especially on the "when the students shout, and their cauldrons melt" line. Only thing I couldn't believe was that the super spy would ever miss a chance to chastise 'Potter'.
