Reviews For A Life Unsettled
Author's Response: The Bible says to forgive and forget, and in my life I have always felt much better forgiving and forgetting than walking around with that weight on my shoulders of hurting and not forgiving. Harry feels the same way, and at some point Severus has talked to him about this behind scenes since Severus reads the Bible. I have always thought that people hold back their forgiveness feeling as if they are getting revenge or something else, but really they are hurting themeselves. Honestly, it feels so much better to forgive and be done with it. Too many times in stories I feel like characters never do forgive each other. In my own personal opinion, I don't believe it is ever too soon to forgive. That being said, just because you forgive doesn't mean you have to be friends with somebody who will hurt you, but Harry was so hurt by not being friends with Ron, that he wanted another chance. Also, Ron is an ass in a lot of stories so people think he's been that way his whole life in all stories. For the sake of mine I'm going to say he's only had a couple of those moments, and it's not an every year sort of thing. For Harry though he's used to other people being really rude every year to him whenever things go wrong.
this might sound like a bit of a weird request but if you were intending for severus' religion to become anything could you do a bit in this story like a passage at christmas because you hardly ever find any religious charecters in harry potterfanfiction its really good please update soon :D Author's Response: Not an unusual request at all. You fill find that in most of my stories here on Potions and Snitches I usually slip faith in God in there somewhere with Snape or Harry, or both. Is there any particiular scripture you would be leaning for during Christmas? You know what's funny is that during my research of names for people at this new school, I kept coming across names that had religious signifigance or meaning, and time and again I came across names that meant Jehova's Gift, or God's gift. I think that when names like that are embedded in a culture and keep coming up, it tells a lot about that culture. I don't know if I will write that into this story since they will be experiencing this new cultue, but we'll see how it goes. Example, the Headmaster's name is Dragomir Yan, standing for (Peace, Jehova's Gift). Also, the name Spas means Salvation, and the Herbology Professor's name Nonna, means God Blessed.
i'm glad they decided to go away and that it can be phrased as a traditional year abroad rather than them running away. i liked the entrance examination. very unusual. i wasn't crazy about ron's apology and harry's forgiveness. i felt like they should have talked about it more or harry should have forgiven less easily. i just hate that ron always gets away with pulling this kind of crap, and i would like to see harry mature to the point that he is confident enough to stand up for himself and doesn't feel it necessary to keep up a friendship that only hurts him. overall, great chapter. keep it up! Author's Response: Too many times people refuse to forgive, and my faith in the Bible tells us to forgive and forget. It's not easy to forgive, but in my life I've found it so much better to forgive and not carry the weight on my shoulders and the bad feeling that accompanies it by holding grudges and refusing to forgive. Now, that being said, lessons should also be learned, and just because you forgive somebody, doesn't mean you have to be friends with them, it just means you forget it and don't bring it up again. Since I wrote in that Severus reads the Bible, I want readers to assume that at some point he speaks to Harry about some of the things contained within, one of them being forgiveness.
What an emotional tale. Very well written, as always.
And I'm glad that Ron FINALLY got his head out of his ass.
Back to the topic. I really would like the boys going back to Hogwarts and dealing with it there, but that's too common, i guess. Perhaps you could send them to Hogwarts and then something drastic happpened which prompted severus to take Harry back and home-school him? It would give them a chance to bond... Durmstrang would also be nice, but only if Severus is there. *shrugs* Maybe Severus fell sick or hurt because of Harry and Harry(and Severus) realises that Severus cared more for harry than he'd known.
famous. last. words. i'm glad to see harry so happy, but worried about seeing him readjust. keep the chapters coming! |
